Modica Tour

Modica, known as the city of one hundred churches, but also rich in culinary traditions and gastronomy is definitely a must when visiting the places of Val di Noto. The tour of Modica begins in Modica Bassa (downtown Modica), where one can admire the cathedral of S. Pietro, the church of Our Lady of Grace, the church of Carmine and several other points of interest.

An interesting visit to the Ethnographic Museum will leave one literally catapulted into the past to discover the customs and traditions of historical Sicily.

The tour continues down the old narrow streets of the historic center and goes up to the Cathedral of San Giorgio, the second cathedral of the city of Modica with its renowned baroque architecture.

After admiring its buildings, the tour will then lead to Modica Alta, a history-rich neighborhood that mounts on one of the hills of the city. Here one can admire the church of St. John and the small splendid church of Santa Maria del Gesù which in addition to its Gothic-Chiaramontic style, shows a clear Spanish influence.
